Distance Education ( part1)

Introduction
Now a days applying Internet (as a media that supports many applications) in the education, teaching and learning is widened in developed countries and is beginning in developing countries. This progress and promotion more than any thing is because of capabilities that internet as a multimedia environment propose to its users. some of this capabilities is:
Internet goes forward to be a universal and global media
Internet provide public access to represented materials without any additional means and fees.
Free flow of information and ideas was provided
Every one can publish his/her article or knowledge and present it for others.
Distances and being far from central Educational institutes is not obstacle
Every one could have permanent education in his/her field
Internet supply several shapes of data transferring and interchange
Via internet as educational media time restricts is not problem
Real-time and online communication was enabled
Militiaperson and multilateral relations with several person have been provided (you can communicate with another person once you are interchanging data or information with other ).
Teachers is more accessible than when they were in traditional educational process.
Finally transferring data in any shape: Audiovisual, Graphical, Numeric and so on, is very ease and those data can be received in PDF, HTML, PRN, Unicode, zip or other formats that computer systems support them.
with this progressions in the Electronic communication scene we are to coordinate our paces with electronic progress and promote our skills and abilities to cope with this capabilities then prepare ourselves to development in the virtual and cyberspace. virtual entities become a reality of our era and we can not ignore it. today there is a separate electronically shape for each organization and institutes and e-government, e- publishing, e-communication, e-medicine, e- learning and .... are virtual type of physical entities and we are to believe this changes in our era.
Interpersonal relationships and interfaces changed through using internet as a communication media. for example through face to face relations in the classes many students could not talk for their classmates or teachers because of shyness, but now through distance education every one without any shyness and anxiety can represent his/her considerations for classmates. and whenever he/she want, can attach or post his/her items to class bulletin or friends mail box. in the virtual classrooms and IT based learning and teaching anyone can have special repeat or review of items and lessons and any one can invite another to the discussion group an these are positive aspects of virtual learning that make it friendly for 21st age (information age in witch people have not and have not allocate much more time to doing works,

Basics of Distance Education (DE):
Every one who dealing with DE and interested in this field want to know what is necessary means and supplies in this scene? and what he/she does need to handling a distance course? and if he need some eligible means or it deals with some unclear or secret ways and frame work that we can not provide and apply them. along with this confusion we can not be able to think about this new and flexible type of education that progressions in the information and educational technologies dedicated it for us. this is a phenomenon debates it's promotion to the achievements in the computer specially communication science. referring to this Phobia in our society ( often lead to ignoring and combating some creativities) we are to describe supplies that is necessary to exercise this method in education specially in the LIS. to this end we follow the discussion with important parts of DE:
Teacher
Learner
Computer with connection to the Internet
Instructional strategy
Electronic materials ( that materials witch could be transferred through Electronic communications).
Additional instrumental materials that are necessary for supporting education
Pedagogic rules
and some original skills in using web and internet abilities
But furthermore, there is some components witch are applied in DE as main components and we are constrained to consider them. these components form the structure of DE. these components are:

Physical equipments contains Hardware and Software that is used for handling a courses such as: computer, Internet connection, peripheral supplies such Headphone, Microphone, Web cam or visualizes, scanners, Digital cameras and other devices is need for different goals and software contains some for educational and learning programs that designed for this end such VT. , NT, Diggoal and so on (of course, some conventional software such: Ms Word, Ms FrontPage, Flash Macromedia, Java script, Freehand, Photoshop, Ms Power point, and other graphic processors is need too. these hardware is served for creating user friendly interfaces and attractive environment for learners and representing learning materials in the virtual classrooms. Pedagogic Basics is ways in witch a teacher represent the educational materials to the learner and communicate with student to reach the goal that is considered from holding courses. this content in virtual environment was changed basically and challenged by technologies provided by technologists. Absolutely, both teaching and learning in the virtual environment need some approaches "probably" different from traditional approaches executed in the past. for that we are to define suitable pedagogic rules for this new type of education, and each Teacher in each section or course should affiliate himself/herself with this rules. as a result we are to consider and redefine some difference rules for DE. Basic skills deals with elementary and basic abilities and authorizes in applying new technologies for educational goals. each teacher and learner in the information age and virtual environment or distance education through Internet need to know new technologies specially computer based technology _so called educational and information technologies_ and ability to applying them along with educational goals this skills is such: working with computer, participating in news groups, searching information from databases, knowing some search engines, working with chat software and so on. Administrative policy refers to course managers and them who is on the top of organizational chart and determining major planes and substantial programs to providing ground for promoting programs and reaching organizational and educational ends. Finally, developmental plans are collective predictions and assessments that each administrator do for developing programs to reach the goals and extending domains of his/her organization in special field.

what teachers need on DE:
It is difficult to discuss about, Really what a teacher need to encounter with DE. but there are some principles that they should consider and there are some skills that they should Learn. Some of them relate directly to pedagogic aspects, such as how to communicate with distance learner, how to represent learning materials via electronic environment effectively, how to make a emotional relation with learners and so on. these skills is essential to manage courses in circumstances in witch learner or learners is far from teacher and they enjoy different equipments and different levels of knacks to do some thing, in this situation it is hard to do so satisfy all learners. in addition, Web environment is more complex than real world and high variety of resources are available through web sites. it is enigmatic for a student to find what he/she need and in other hand doing projects, handworks and term papers all depends on search and finding relevant information from web and electronic resources. because of this necessity and urgency, teachers should be skillful and adept to help distant learners and answer their questions about any thing at resources respect. what i point till here were pedagogic and some sills witch each teacher must be equipped in DE courses.
There is some things that dealing with technical aspects of distance education and each distance educator should know more about them and keep pace with them. e.g. Computer related skills such as working with windows, application programs, word processors and ... and having knowledge of networks specially, Internet and web, being able to work with e-mail and participate in teleconferences and transfer data and files via internet and some essential tasks that it supports (e.g. ftp, gopher, telnet and so on) these are straight lines to achieve successful and effective management of distance courses. in addition to these essential skills it will be noteworthy and benefit if one could use his/her deftness to make a learning environment eye-catching and elegant or apply psychological schemes to affecting teaching and accelerating learning process. for example one can use graphic software such as Adobe Photoshop, Flash macromedia, "Ulhead gif animator" or others to make animations or draw a flow charts or diagrams or designing environment to draw attention or emphasize a special material or item in the virtual classrooms. furthermore teachers can use slide shows and presentations and video clips or voice mails in teaching some items. at the end of this section i must mention that, managing the virtual classrooms need more skills than that of traditional classrooms and teachers should study and learn more about these procedures and prepare frameworks of steering education towards a virtual shape in the information age. this requires effective management from administrators and college directors who want to serve a technology as a catalyst more than a goal in educational process.
